Farmers Are Not Getting Fertilizer, Agriculture Department Is Anti-Farmer
Haveri, June 14: Former Chief Minister and Haveri Gadag MP Basavaraj Bommai has announced a 100-day program for the development of the Haveri Gadag Lok Sabha constituency, stating that it has been decided to implement it. Speaking at a press conference in Shiggaon after reviewing various development projects, he emphasized the need to prioritize experienced leaders from alliance parties in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s cabinet. Additionally, key figures from the previous government have been continued as ministers. Hence, I might have missed out on a ministerial position, but given my experience, I will carry out significant developmental work as an MP, he said.
Tomorrow, I will review the progress of central schemes at the DC office in Haveri district. I will expedite the central schemes, he added.
Resignation on June 17
I will resign from the MLA position on June 17. Following this, the by-election process for Shiggaon will begin. After reviewing the situation, the party will give the ticket to whoever has the public’s support. We have many capable candidates, and we will definitely win the Shiggaon by-election, he stated.
Anti-Farmer department
This time, the rains have been good, which is a positive sign. During the Congress’s tenure, a drought had started, but as soon as Modi’s government came into power, the rains began. The state government has not provided seeds or fertilizers to the farmers. Farmers are being told to take the fertilizers available with the department instead of the fertilizers they need. The Agriculture Department has become anti-farmer. There is no fertilizer in the societies, but it is available with traders, who are selling it at higher prices. However, officials have not raided anywhere. The Agriculture Department in Haveri district has failed to manage the monsoon season, he accused.
The state government is financially bankrupt. CM Siddaramaiah has presented the budget fifteen times, but within a year, the financial situation has completely deteriorated. The schemes are not reaching the beneficiaries properly, and those who are not beneficiaries have not benefited at all. Both groups will soon turn against the government, he said.
Development works like the NKSRTC depot and training center, post-metric girls’ government hostel, lawyers’ association, and tourist lodge in Shiggaon have been stalled. Due to a lack of funds in this government, development in all sectors has come to a halt, he remarked.
